What is CertDirectory?
A community for people who hold IT certifications, from any vendor and in any field: cloud, security, networking, data, development and more. Members show their certifications, experience and writing on one public profile and connect with each other.
How do I create an account?
Choose Sign in at the top of any page and continue with Google, GitHub or LinkedIn. There is no separate password. New members are taken through four short steps: confirm your name and country, connect your credentials, tell us what brings you here, and preview your profile. You can skip them and come back later from Settings > Profile and URL.
I had an account on the old site. Do I need a new one?
No. Sign in with the same Google, GitHub or LinkedIn account you used before, and your profile is there.
Your profile
How do I edit my profile?
Open your profile and choose Edit profile. Each part (header, photo, about, links) has its own Edit button and saves on its own. The Experience, Writing and Services tabs have their own Add buttons.
What is my profile address and can I change it?
Your profile lives at certdirectory.io/profile/your-address. Change it in Settings > Profile and URL: 3 to 60 characters, using lower-case letters, numbers and hyphens, up to 5 times a day. Links to your old address keep working: they send visitors to the new one, and nobody else can take it.
Can I hide parts of my profile?
Every profile is public, but you choose which optional tabs visitors see in Settings > Profile and URL. A tab with nothing in it is never shown to visitors. Use View as visitor on your profile to check what others see.
Can I keep my profile out of search engines?
Yes. Switch off Show my profile in search engines in Settings > Profile and URL. Your profile stays public on CertDirectory, but search engines are asked not to list it. Profiles without a country and a short bio (or a credential) are not listed either.
How do I show where I worked and studied?
Open the Experience tab on your profile and choose Add position or Add education. Start typing the company or school name and pick it from the list; if it is not there, add it.
What are Services and Spotlight?
Services lists the places people can hire or book you (for example Upwork, Fiverr, Topmate or Calendly). Spotlight, on the Writing tab, shows LinkedIn posts you want visitors to see first. Both appear to visitors only when you have added something.
Where are my certifications?
Connections to Credly, Microsoft Learn and CertDirectory Credentials are coming soon. Once they are back, your badges appear on the Credentials tab.
Privacy and your account
How do I get a copy of my data?
Go to Settings > Account and choose Download my data. You receive a ZIP file with your account, profile, experience, Services and Spotlight entries and profile photos. You can do this up to 3 times a day.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings > Account > Delete my account and type delete my account to confirm. Your profile is hidden at once and you are signed out on every device. After 14 days your account and everything in it are deleted for good. Changed your mind? Sign in again within those 14 days and nothing is lost.
What cookies do you use?
Only the ones the site needs to work and your theme choice. See the cookie notice.
Browser extension
What does the CertDirectory browser extension do?
It shows discount codes on Linux Foundation training and certification pages and helps you plan your certification path. See Browser extension.
