Cookie notice

The cookies CertDirectory uses and why.

CertDirectory uses only the cookies it needs to work, plus one that remembers your theme. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, so we do not ask for consent.

Cookie What it does How long
__Host-cd_session Keeps you signed in. Up to 30 days, or 7 days without a visit
__Host-cd_oauth Protects the sign-in step with Google, GitHub or LinkedIn. 10 minutes
cd-theme Remembers whether you chose light, dark or system theme. 1 year, or until you choose System
cd_clone_visitor Counts the questions you ask a member's AI clone, so every visitor gets the same daily limit. It holds a random id, not who you are. 1 year

We do not use cookies for visitor statistics.

Browser storage

When you are signed in, Messages uses a real-time messaging service to show your conversations as they arrive. It keeps its sign-in for Messages in your browser's storage (IndexedDB). It holds a token for your own member id, not your messages, and it is removed when you sign out. It is needed for Messages to work, so we do not ask for consent.

Links from Spotlight posts and Services open other sites, such as LinkedIn or Upwork. Those sites set their own cookies under their own policies. We do not embed them on our pages.

Content from other sites

Two things on profiles come from other sites, and only when the member has added a GitHub link:

  • The GitHub contribution chart is a picture loaded from ghchart.rshah.org.
  • The CNCF contributor card loads from contribcard.cncf.io, only when you press the CNCF button.

Your browser connects to those sites directly. They may set or read their own cookies under their own policies. We do not control them and get nothing back from them. See the privacy policy.

If we ever add a cookie that is not needed for the site to work, this notice will change first.
